Many or Few?

There were approximately 1.5 million people in Sodom and Gomorrah before the Lord destroyed these sinful cities, because the outcry of their sin was very great…

Three people were spared and saved from this total destruction and retribution from God…

And so, how many people were in the world at the time of Noah?

According to the folks at AiG, “some people believe the population was relatively low” (whatever that means) because of “wars, diseases, and other factors.” However, if the population growth rate in the pre-Flood world – that is, in the years between 4004 and 2348 BCE – was “equal to the growth rate in 2000, there could have been about 750 million people at the time of the Flood.” But “given the extremely long lifespans prior to the Flood, the growth rate could have been much higher,” and thus the population could have been “close to four billion at the Flood”…

Eight people were saved from this worldwide dispensation from God…

There are approximately 8.2 billion people in the world today…

Jesus said …

Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many…. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

There is a delusional notion in this world that attempts to thwart the incontrovertible truth of what happens when we die…

There is a belief that most of the people in the world will automatically go to heaven when they die and enjoy eternal bliss…. It’s an opinion that God is like Bill Gates and Microsoft in that there is a divine default program that brings everyone to heaven when we die…

The pure truth is that not everyone automatically goes to heaven when they die…

If God spared only eight souls out of hundreds of millions of people in the days of Noah and spared three souls out of Sodom and Gomorrah in the days of Abraham and Lot, and Jesus reminds us that the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few…

Then we should truly examine ourselves to ensure that we are one of the few that Jesus is referring to…

And through it all, God invites us to respond to his free gift of salvation, and desires that all people be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth…

He is willing that none should perish, but that all should reach repentance…

Because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved…
